Hi, I am a university student doing a degree in social science which requires some basic statistics/research methods. The problem is I have not done mathematics since I was 16 and it was always my absolute worst subject. I am severely math/number phobic, in general, I just plain dislike it and don't understand it and never have. As a child I was diagnosed with a specific learning disability because of my math problems but as an adult was diagnosed with ADHD so I am not sure if they misdiagnosed me as a kid because I just hated math. I did very well in almost all other subjects, including advanced physics in high school, so I never understood why I could do everything but plain mathematics. When we got a new math teacher for a year in high school (who got me from an E grade to a C in a few months) he took the time to tutor me after class and told me I was not bad at math, I had just never really been taught the very basics so I could not do the more advanced things and clearly his method worked since I got better at it. But then I moved country and did not have to do math again until last year so I never really worried about it up until now- I assumed I would just not do any form of math again but I was very wrong. Statistics, algebra, all of that is like a foreign language to me. I have managed to get through the first year with my research methods course by sheer luck and good friends. I managed to get into honors and now have to do more advanced quantitative stuff but I cannot even do basic math (like not even how to do a fraction). So I think at this point only one on one tutoring could help as I try to teach myself but I find it incredibly hard and with my ADHD it's not very easy to focus on things that I generally a) hate b) fear c) am terrible at d) find incredibly boring and disengaging because they are online lectures! Because of corona the only thing we are really covering the next few weeks is regression analysis, but I missed out on even the most foundational mathematics so I would really basically like to be taught math essentially from the bottom up, so I could teach myself more advanced things in the future. This means I would probably like to do tutoring for a long time but first I just need to be able to pass the course. Let me know if this sounds like something you could help me with, thank you, Cat
